Cedar Fence & Gate:

The pictures shown below are of a cedar fence (top) and cedar gate (bottom).

That we built between concrete walls that we also built (shown on another link).

The cedar was used in this area on both sides because of the easement access for the water company, backflow valves are shown in one of the pictures. We were not able to continue the block wall & footer across this area. So we designed the gate and matching fence, which was approved by the owners of the property and the county water department.

The picture's above are the back of the fence and gate. The fence (on the left) shows the frame that was designed by us to withstand a 14 foot span with no center supports. This span

has to withstand the wind load calculations in Florida. The gate (on the right) did not have to meet the same load calculations due to the fact that there is space between the ground and the to get the center, allowing for wind to pass through. We decided to build a barn style latch for the gate to get the maximum strength, due to the fact that the water supply is under the center of the gate and a slide bolt into the ground couldn't be used.

Above is showing the frames without the cedar installed. You can see the way we designed the frames a little clearer, and the hinges installed on the gate (5 of them per gate).
