The picture's above are the back of the fence and gate. The fence (on the left) shows the frame that was designed by us to withstand a 14 foot span with no center supports. This span
has to withstand the wind load calculations in Florida. The gate (on the right) did not have to meet the same load calculations due to the fact that there is space between the ground and the to get the center, allowing for wind to pass through. We decided to build a barn style latch for the gate to get the maximum strength, due to the fact that the water supply is under the center of the gate and a slide bolt into the ground couldn't be used.
Above is showing the frames without the cedar installed. You can see the way we designed the frames a little clearer, and the hinges installed on the gate (5 of them per gate).
